It's very effortless to tell the difference between adult plus minor nymph leaf-footed plant bugs. Adults are large, grayish-brown and contain wings. The gentle body of the nymph remains vivid red or orange, the legs are black and the creature has no wings. The nymphs are very much easier to kill than the adults because they proceed slower, can't fly also have soft bodies rather than the hard exoskeletons of their elders. Nymphs generally congregate with large groups starting with May or June.

1 Check your plants each day for the presence of leaf-footed place bug nymphs. The brightly colored youngsters generally congregate plus remain in large groups until adulthood.

2 Pull on disposable gloves. Scoop up a major batch of them in a butterfly net. Crush each leaf-footed nymph between your fingers. This gives several house gardeners a sense of satisfaction. Decrease the nymphs in a bucket of soapy water if you don't enjoy squashing them.

3 Spray plagued plants by means of insecticidal soap. Follow the packaging instructions carefully. Repeat like essential, after this materials is a highly effective contact killer but it has no residual action. Nymphs will die either on contact or shortly thereafter.

4 Deal with large infestations of leaf-footed nymphs with some commercial pesticide containing permethrin or carbaryl if necessary. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations thoroughly.

5 Mow your property often to help eliminate hiding places with leaf-footed plant bugs. Remove grass clippings, brush piles and other plant debris. These are favored over-wintering places for the pests.
